Nathan Broadhead from Bangor, has been called up to Everton’s first team squad for the Europa League match against Apollon Limassol in Cyprus on Thursday night.
Nathan, 19, has been with Everton’s Academy since the age of 10, having played for Bangor City as a youngster. A regular in the Under-23s he was rewarded with a new three-year professional deal this year, but has yet to make a first team appearance.
Everton have travelled with a much-changed squad for the game as they are bottom of Group E and unable to qualify for the last 32, having lost four out of five games in the group stages of the competition.
Manager Sam Allardyce, who also misses the trip because of a ‘pre-arranged’ medical appointment, rests a host of first-team regulars ahead of Sunday’s Merseyside derby against Liverpool at Anfield, giving players from the Academy the opportunity of a first team debut.
Academy players Alex Denny, Fraser Hornby, Nathan Broadhead, Stephen Duke-McKenna, Michael Collins, Shayne Lavery and Anthony Gordon all trained at the GSP Stadium in Cyprus this evening with the rest of the squad.
