Gwynedd council have announced that Christmas green bin collections in Arfon, that had been rearranged for the 27th and 28th of December, will now be delayed due to ‘mechanical issues’ with two of the largest vehicles in the collection fleet.

Households who would normally have received a bin collection on Tuesday 25th or Wednesday 26th December and had been re-arranged, will now face further delays with their bin collections.

The announcement on the Gwynedd Council website read: “Due to mechanical issues with two of our largest collection fleet Vehicles we are unable to complete all the green wheeled bin (landfill waste) that was arranged for those properties whose collections would have been on Christmas Day and Boxing Day rearranged for the 27 and 28 of December in the Arfon area.

“We are having to use smaller Vehicles when they become available and we urge residents affected to be patient and leave their bins out in their collection points until we are able to collect them.

“We apologise for any inconvenience, but are doing all we can under difficult circumstances.

“Properties who are due a collection on the 27 and 28 according to their calendar will be done on these days, these properties are not affected.”
