Police have stepped up patrols in several areas of Bangor following a serious assault that took place on Tuesday evening, 8th July.

Emergency services were called to Llandegai Road shortly before 8.30pm after receiving reports of an assault. A teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries as a result of the incident.

Three young individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault and are currently in police custody as enquiries continue. North Wales Police have confirmed that they are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident at this time.

In response, increased patrols have been deployed in the Hirael, Maesgeirchen and High Street areas of Bangor to provide community reassurance.

District Inspector Jamie Owens of Gwynedd North said: “I would like to thank members of the community who contacted the police last night and for their support whilst emergency services were in attendance. Investigations into the assault are ongoing, and I would reassure residents that there is no ongoing risk to the wider public.

“I recognise the impact that incidents like this can have on young people, their families and the wider community, and I have therefore directed increased patrols in the area over the coming days.”

Inspector Owens also addressed concerns about video footage of the incident circulating on social media.

“I urge the public to avoid sharing the footage online or speculating about the incident, as this can hinder the investigation and cause unnecessary distress to those involved,” he said.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with information that could aid the investigation to come forward. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact the police via the North Wales Police website, by calling 101, speaking to a local officer, or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously.
