Water from a burst pipe at Bangor Gymnastics club has caused a huge amount of damage, leaving club officials and young gymnasts devastated.
The leaking pipe was discovered and Thursday morning and the club was immediately closed to members.
The flooding has caused severe damage to the specialist flooring used by the gymnasts and the club have now appealed for help from the local community.
A statement on the club’s Facebook page said: “Today (23 June) we discovered a devastating blow with a burst pipe causing huge amounts of damage in the gym.
“The water has travelled from the front door right through to the back area just before the bars. As you can imagine, we are all devastated and know our gymnasts will be too.
“Please be assured we are working behind the scenes in order to reopen the gym. The floor has suffered significant water damage – and will be the biggest issue for us being able to reopen.
“We will keep you updated with information and ask if you have any ideas as to how to fundraise that you email sarahaustin.bgc@gmail.com .”
The club have also appealed for water vac to use this weekend, if anyone can help please contact the club at the email address above or via their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Bangor-Gymnastics-Club-446524232099513
