Staff from Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd (CCG) Housing Association, will trial body worn video cameras following a recent incident.
The social landlord manages and maintains over 6,300 homes in Gwynedd, including properties in Bangor, Caernarfon, Pwllheli, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Dolgellau and Bala.
In a statement on Facebook CCG said: “A small minority break the rules and following a recent incident we are going to be trialling body worn video cameras for some of our front-line staff.
“We have a zero-tolerance policy towards assaults on our staff and ensuring their safety is paramount. We hope these cameras will protect our staff and deter acts of aggression, verbal or physical abuse against staff.
“The use of the camera will be compliant with all relevant data legislation and only activated when a member of staff feel they are at risk because of the behaviour of someone they are meeting becomes threatening or abusive, or where they need to gather evidence.”
The costs of running the Bangor Aye are spiralling. While a small amount is generated through advertising, The Bangor Aye is completely independent and receives no other financial support or backing.
