A Grade II Listed building in the heart of Bangor has been listed for sale, after the closure of Bangor Independent School.
The site had once been the Canonry Museum and Art Gallery, before the relocation to Storiel, but in 2017 the site reopened as a private school.
Although the school hasn’t confirmed the closure, a Welsh Government spokesperson said: “The proprietor of Bangor Independent School advised Welsh Government that the school was closing earlier this year.”
The building on Ffordd Gwynedd, is now listed with Dafydd Hardy Estate Agents, with an asking price of £425,000.
According to the property listing, the accommodation benefits from a ‘wealth of original features’ including slate flagged floors, high ceilings and exposed stonework windows with leaded stained glass inset lights. Outside, the building benefits from ‘well maintained garden and lawn areas’ and secure car parking available on site.
Planning permission was approved in 2017 to turn the former museum into a restaurant, wine bar and 2 living units, however the independent school opened shortly afterwards.
