Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board have launched an online questionnaire to review the experiences of patients attending Outpatient Appointments and to help improve the service.

The Health Board are particularly interested in why patients are missing appointments, whether it’s due to inconvenient appointment time, transport problems, child care, work commitments, or whether patients simply forget or feel they no longer needed the appointment.

Data released by NHS Digital revealed that in 2016/17 almost 8 million hospital outpatient appointments were missed in the UK due to patients not attending, compared with 7.5m in 2015/16. This means £1 billion worth of appointments were missed, equating to 250,000 hip replacements or 1 million cataract operations.

An outpatient appointment is a consultation, test or procedure with a health professional, usually held at a hospital, but doesn’t require an overnight stay.

If have attended or missed an outpatient appointment at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board since January 2017, they want your feedback to help improve outpatient services across North Wales in the future.

All the responses received as part of this survey will be treated with full confidentiality and will only be used for the purpose of improving the outpatient services in North Wales.
