A food hub from Dyffryn Ogwen that promotes and distributes local food and produce has extended to Bangor as part of a new partnership with the city’s University.
Cadwyn Ogwen and Bangor University have come together to offer a wide-range of local food and produce that can be ordered in advance and collected every week. By using the convenient online system on cadwynogwen.cymru, people can order their produce by 12pm on Tuesday to be collected on Thursday.
The arrangement is already proving popular with the university’s staff and students. With the service offering an opportunity to collect orders at 4pm every Thursday afternoon from Bangor, it also offers residents in the nearby area to make the most of the seasonal and sustainable produce on-offer.
Robyn Meredydd, Cadwyn Ogwen’s Project Manager said: “Cadwyn Ogwen has been working with local food and drink producers since 2020, and recently we have extended to collaborate with Bangor University.
“Our aim through the service is to make it easier for people in the area to buy the wonderful seasonal and sustainable products that the area has to offer.
“All kinds of food – both sweet and savoury are available, along with products from talented artisans – available through Cadwyn Ogwen producers and Dyffryn Nantlle Food Hub. It’s a great way to support local producers and cut down on food miles which offers a truly sustainable shopping option.”
The online ordering system on cadwynogwen.cymru means that customers place their order by midday on a Tuesday, and then collect their goods from one of a number of collection points in the Dyffryn Ogwen area from Thursday afternoon.
As part of the new arrangement with Bangor University, orders arrive in Cadwyn Ogwen’s electric vehicle and Bangor customers can collect their produce from the main arts Building car-park from 4pm to 4.20pm on Thursday afternoon.
Cadwyn Ogwen is a project established by Partneriaeth Ogwen during the Covid-19 pandemic. It now works with 23 local food and drink producers in Gwynedd and Ynys Môn, and offers everything from seasonal local produce, seafood and fresh dairy products, to cupboard staples, with many organic options available.
When ordering from the cadwynogwen.cymru website, customers can order from over 600 products through Cadwyn Ogwen and Dyffryn Nantlle Food Hub.
