400m track athlete Ffion Roberts, a postgraduate student at Bangor University, is putting Bangor on the map in the track and field world.

2022 has already been a busy year for Ffion as she not only started her degree in Post-graduate Physiotherapy, but she’s also managed to add 4 impressive wins to her repertoire including, a silver medal and a Personal Best in the Welsh Championships (Senior) on the 29 January.

She went on the represent Wales in the Glasgow 4x400m race on the 5 Feb and just over two weeks later on the 20 February she won a silver medal as well as a running personal best in the BUCS National Championships in Sheffield.

Bangor has never won a medal in this competition before so Ffion is feeling, quite rightly, very proud of herself. To finish her successful streak, Ffion finished 4th in the heats in the British Championships in February.

Ffion now has two months away from competing before starting the outdoor season where she will be competing in the BUCS Outdoor Championships at the end of April.

Ffion’s goal is to compete in the Commonwealth Games in 2026, so I’m sure this won’t be the last we’ve heard of the impressive athlete, we wish Ffion all the best in her future endeavours not only as a student here in Bangor but as a top-class athlete.
