Eglwys y Groes Church in Maesgeirchen, Bangor, was transformed into the colours of the rainbow on Thursday night, to thank the NHS, Key Workers and volunteers in the community

The light up was also intended to send a visual message to the staff and residents at Plas Hedd Care Home, letting them know they are in the thoughts of the community.

Local Councillor Nigel Pickavance said: “This is a message on behalf of all the community, not just here in Maesgeirchen but Bangor as a whole.

“One reason for doing this is to send a visual message to you all at Plas Hedd, to let you know you are all in our thoughts, the community are proud of you and we all send a massive Thank You for your commitment and dedication to the residents of Plas Hedd during this difficult time.

“Eglwys y Groes is the heart of our Community and the beat of its heart represents the beat of our Communities heart tonight and the rainbow sends love and faith to you all.

“The rainbow also represents a massive thank you to all our NHS, Key Workers and volunteers. It’s the likes of you all who puts the Great into Great Britain and we all appreciate every one of you. Thank you, Diolch.”
