A trial scheme is being set up in Bangor where good condition old school uniforms can be donated to help others in the community.

The scheme, which is open to all families and individuals, is aimed at helping people in Bangor purchase second hand but good quality school uniforms all year round at a very low cost. The uniforms of every School in the city and outskirts of Bangor will be included.

The Partneriaeth Maesgeirchen Partnership (PMP) are setting up a ‘ School Uniform Rail Sale’ at the PMP offices in Maesgeirchen and are asking for donations of any old uniforms or equipment which are no longer used, which will help others and is also a great way of recycling.

Councillor Nigel Pickavance said: “Times are getting difficult and everyone is feeling the pinch financially these days. At the same time, School uniforms and equipment are getting more and more expensive for families yet we all have children who either out grow uniforms, leave for secondary School etc, so there’s always surplus uniforms and equipment.

“What do we do ? Many either put them in storage ‘just in case’ or throw them in the bin etc which is a great shame. The primary aim is to help Bangor families to purchase second hand but good quality School uniforms all year round at a very low cost.

“All we ask is, If you have any old uniforms or equipment which are no longer any use to you then please don’t throw them out, get in touch and please consider donating them to this great cause and at the same time, help us to help others.

“This is a trial project so please help us to make it a success.”

How it works

  • Donate old uniforms and equipment
  • A clothes rail and table in the PMP offices will be available where you can come and see / purchase school uniforms and equipment on given dates
  • The items will be displayed on Facebook etc as well.
  • There will be a small charge for the items which goes back into the community.
  • This is a Bangor wide project and open to all our families and individuals and includes uniforms of every School in the City and outskirts.
  • There will be a number of drop off points in the City where you can take items including the PMP office.
