Creative Media students from Coleg Menai stepped onto the red carpet for a prestigious TV and Film Awards ceremony at St. David’s Hall in Cardiff this the weekend.

A number of students spent their summer filming alongside professionals from It’s My Shout Productions Ltd., a company who specialise in producing short films for television and screen for organisations such as BBC Wales, the UK Film Council and the Arts Council of Wales. Worldwide screening of the company’s films has won them several BAFTA Cymru Awards.

Grace Thomas from Holyhead was crowned ‘Best Actress’ for her part in the English language film ‘See Me Live,’ and Manon Naven from Llanfair PG won ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for her role in the Welsh language production ‘Paid Troi’n Ôl.’

‘See me Live’ will be aired on Monday, 10 September on BBC 2 Wales, and S4C will screen ‘Paid Troi’n Ôl’ at a future date. Both films will be available to view on iPlayer, and will be shared via the Coleg Menai Facebook and Twitter feeds and, as soon as they become available, on YouTube.

Paul Edwards, Programme Area Manager, Creative Media said: “The partnership between Coleg Menai, It’s My Shout and BBC Cymru Wales has been a resounding success, and is a superb example of how the motivation and determination of our students, coupled with support and direction from industry has generated excitement and creativity in our local area.

“Students from the shoot this year, both in front of and behind the camera, have already been targeted as the future talent, which is testament to their hard work and professionalism. We’re extremely proud of all of them.”
