Clap for carers to become a weekly event to thank the NHS and key workers

Clap for our carers returns tonight as people prepare to thank NHS staff.

The 8pm nationwide applause is to show support for NHS staff and key workers working on the response to the Coronavirus pandemic is to become a weekly event, with the whole of the UK encouraged to get involved every Thursday.

Last week, millions of people across the UK applauded from their homes in a moving tribute to the country’s NHS workers.

Tonight’s applause will honour teachers, cleaners, supermarket workers and delivery drivers – as well as the NHS staff who are working around the clock.

So don’t forget to applaud from your windows, bang your pans on balconies and cheer from your doorway at 8pm to show your appreciation.
