North Wales Police have warned that children riding trial bikes at the Llandegai Industrial estate is an ‘accident waiting to happen’.
Police received a number of calls earlier today, Thursday 28 January, reporting a group of children riding trial bikes in the middle of the road on the Industrial estate in Llandegai, Bangor.
In a statement, police said: “One of the team went down to have a look and saw a group on bikes – wearing no helmets and riding in the road.
“The group managed to disperse however the officer managed to seize one bike (pictured) and took the 12-year-old rider home to speak to his parents.
“Regardless what you class as ‘fun’ – the Industrial Estate, which is busy with moving traffic such as HGV’s, vans and other vehicles throughout the day, is not the place for a child to be riding their trial/off road bike.
“Whilst the officer was there a HGV driver approached him to say one of the children almost collided with his vehicle.
“We urge all parents/carers to know where their children are and where they go to use these bikes.
“The last thing we want is to be knocking on people’s doors to deliver bad news.”
Police confirmed that patrols will continue in the area.
