40 students from Bangor University will be trekking up Africa’s tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, next September in aid of the mental health charity MIND.

The students will fly to Tanzania on the 2nd of September 2019, to trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, which is 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) above sea level.

James Grimont, a second year student at Bangor University, said: “Our mission is to raise £3,300 each and we have worked hard to motivate and inspire other Bangor University students to join us on this great adventure.

“We have held information meetings in Bangor’s biggest lecture theatres and have also organised and run our stall at the Freshers’ Fair that took place at Bangor University early in September.

“On social media we have attracted the interest of 400+ students and we have 40 people currently signed up for this event, each with their own Justgiving pages aiming to raise £3300 for the challenge. Mental Health is a worsening crisis and we chose this charity as we are committed to making a difference.”
