International Students from Bangor University have organised a Litter Pick around Bangor as part of a project called ‘Internationals Go Green.’

The project for the academic year 2017/18 will consist of a series of trips and events aimed at raising awareness on environmental issues, sustainability and wellbeing among international students. In addition, all events are organised together with other University Departments and local organisations to enhance the student experience and to work as a bridge between International students and the local community.

Last March, 45 international Bangor University students volunteered on a Beach Clean at Newborough Beach, picking up all sorts of rubbish found on the beach and sand dunes, from shoes to plastic bags and ear cotton buds!

The Bangor litter pick will take place this coming Saturday (4th November 2017) meeting outside Pontio Entrance at 11am and starting to collect litter from there.

Marcel Clusa Ferrand, from the International Student Support Team at Bangor University, said: “The event is aimed at promoting green practices, sustainability, to promote diversity of cultures in Wales and to show that Bangor Students care about Bangor.

“Hopefully this way we can influence the actions of others and help reduce littering for a nicer, healthier and even more beautiful Bangor.”
