Striking staff from Bangor University have donated £950 to St Mary’s Hostel in Bangor to help the local homeless. While on strike during the recent cold weather, the plight of the homeless was highlighted and staff decided to help.
A fund raising page was set up by the Bangor University College Union, with the initial aim of raising £300 to help the homeless in Bangor, staff also donated sleeping bags, men’s waterproofs and trainers.
Staff were encouraged to help us raise funds after experiencing the freezing temperatures themselves while on the picket line during the recent strike action.
