A huge summer festival in Bangor has been given the go ahead, after the plans were backed by the city council.
City Council members voted unanimously in favour to lead and financially secure the Gwyl Haf Bangor Summer Festival 2023, which will be held on Saturday 19 August, 2023.
The Multicultural Festival promises something for everyone with food, drink, music and perfromances.
A statement from local councillor, Nigel Pickavance, said: “Bangor City Council members voted unanimously in favour to lead and financially secure the Gwyl Haf Bangor Summer Festival 2023. We thank the City Council and Councillors for the overwhelming support.
“Now it’s over to you Bangor. Let’s see the level of support you showed for the newly established Carnival in 2010. Book your day off, book a babysitter for the evening. Bring your whole family, friends, spread the word, and make your way to Bangor City Centre on Sat 19th August.
“Loads of different food, Bars, a NEW large Market, magicians, decorating workshops, inflatable fun, kids shows, circus workshops, multi-cultural performances, cocktail bar, Reggae & SKA stage on the High street midday-5pm and of course the main 20ft Stage in Tan y Fynwent with live music all day from midday to 11pm, great solo singers, full bands with a fantastic headline act to bring the celebrations to an end.
“There will be many announcements from now until the event. Massive thank you to the City of Bangor Council, the Councillors, and officers of the Council.”
The Festival headline act ‘Watch that scene’ ABBA tribute band has just been announced, and the professional tribute band with a full 8-piece band of performers, promises to be a big hit.
Cllr Pickavance added: “In 2010 we hired just a two-piece Abba Tribute for the Carnival and as so many have said, it was up there with the best nights ever in Bangor.
“That was down to our Community who came out in force and had a brilliant evening together. Let’s show that same level of support again, not forgetting, this year, this spectacular event is FREE !
“Along with many other fabulous acts throughout the day here at the Bangor Summer Festival 2023, what a way to end proceedings this is going to be, get yah dancing shoes on !
“Over to you Bangor. Bring your mates, families, neighbours, and head down to Tan y Fynwent on the 19th of August.”
