Bangor, you were extraordinary.
On Saturday 16th August, our city centre was transformed into something magical — a living, breathing festival of colour, sound, and joy. From the very first notes of music to the last cheer of the night, thousands upon thousands of you filled the streets, and Bangor came alive like never before.
The air was thick with rhythm — the steel pans of the Pantonic All Stars ringing down the High Street, Freedom Soundsystem’s basslines thundering through the ground, and the roar of the crowd as Fearlessly Taylor lit up Storiel Green with a show that didn’t just imitate but inspired. She made dreams real, stepping off stage to meet fans, hug them, laugh with them, and pose for photos they’ll treasure forever. And when Oasish est. 1995 challenged Bangor to sing louder than their last crowd? The response shook the city to its core. Even they admitted — Bangor’s voices were the loudest of them all.
All around, wonder was everywhere: children racing through the Dino Treasure Hunt, spotting eggs and towering dinosaurs; Transformers stopping people in their tracks; Superman and Elsa waving through crowds; Lightning McQueen and the Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1 parked proudly by the Cathedral, swarmed by cameras and excited kids.
The smells of sizzling burgers, fresh fudge, BBQ, and Caribbean spice floated through the streets, mixing with the scent of candyfloss and popcorn from the funfair. Vintage steam engines hissed and whistled, inflatables housed bouncing children, and laughter echoed down every lane.
Inside the Cathedral, calm and care for the youngest — toddlers tumbling in soft play, parents welcomed with tea and coffee, little ones clutching toy caterpillars at bilingual story time, searching for Robert Thompson’s hidden wooden mice with eyes wide in wonder.
It was hot, it was busy, it was buzzing — and it was beautiful. Everywhere you turned there was life, laughter, and love for Bangor.
But none of this could have happened without the people who gave their all:
✨ The volunteers who worked tirelessly in the heat, without complaint.
✨ The vendors and attractions who brought their very best.
✨ The performers who raised the roof and gave Bangor a soundtrack it will never forget.
This wasn’t just an event. This was a statement: Bangor is alive, Bangor is together, Bangor is unstoppable.
“We’ve put on events before, but nothing has ever come close to what Bangor experienced on Saturday. To see thousands of people — families, children, grandparents, teenagers — all coming together in the heart of our city was overwhelming. The smiles, the singing, the sheer joy on people’s faces… that’s why we do this. Bangor proved it can deliver one of the biggest and best free festivals in Wales, and we couldn’t be prouder. Thank you to everyone who came and everyone who gave their time to make it happen.” – Festival Organising Team
And so we end with one question…
Bangor, are you ready to do it all again on Saturday 15th August 2026?
