A Scout from Bangor has been selected to represent the UK at one of the world’s largest international Scouting events.
Ethan Lutterer will be among 600 UK volunteers helping to deliver the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Gdansk, Poland, in 2027.
More than 50,000 Scouts from around the world are expected to attend the event, which is held every four years and brings together young people from different countries and cultures for activities, adventure and international friendship.
As part of an International Team, Ethan will work alongside volunteers from across the world to help deliver the Jamboree. Roles include running outdoor activities, supporting cultural exchanges and helping with large-scale events.
Ethan previously attended a World Scout Jamboree in North America as a young person and said the experience inspired him to give something back.
He said: “Scouting is a place I feel at home. It has given me so many learning opportunities. I attended the Jamboree in North America as a young person and wanted to give something back, so here I am.
“I have never been to Poland, so I am looking forward to meeting people from almost every nation on earth and delivering this brilliant event.”
Chief Scout Dwayne Fields congratulated Ethan and the other UK volunteers selected for the event.
He said: “Opportunities like this are what Scouting is all about, bringing people together, building confidence, and showing young people what’s possible when they step outside their comfort zone.
“The Jamboree is more than an event, it’s a chance to connect with the world, to learn from different cultures, and to come back inspired to make a difference at home. I’ve no doubt Ethan will grab this experience with both hands and make the most of every moment.”
The 26th World Scout Jamboree will take place in Gdansk, Poland, in 2027.
I’ve also corrected the obvious “Norther America” → “North America” typo in Ethan’s quote, while otherwise keeping the quotes intact.
