Poundworld have announced that another 40 stores will close across the UK which includes the store on Bangor High Street.

Administrators Deloitte announced on Tuesday afternoon that 531 workers across the 40 stores have been informed of redundancy – with the stores due to close on Tuesday 24 July 2018.

This brings the total number of store closures to 145 with 1,800 job losses. Poundworld has 355 stores across the UK employing around 5,000 people.

The discount store, which was founded in Wakefield, Yorkshire, in 1974, fell into administration in June and Deloitte partners Daniel Butters and Clare Boardman were appointed to attempt to find a buyer for the company. The administrators are continuing to look for a buyer for what remains of the business.
