Figures published by North Wales Police have revealed that Bangor High Street is the most burgled street in North Wales, with properties burgled on 93 occasions between January 2016 and December 2018.
After the High Street the next most targeted road in Gwynedd was Caernarfon Road in Bangor which had 23 burglaries recorded during the same period.
The Freedom of Information request from ‘North Wales Live’ (Daily Post) showed figures for the burglary hotspots in North Wales, with Abergele, Rhyl, Towyn and Wrexham also troubled by numerous break-ins.
Police in Bangor recently issued a warning to ensure that all windows and doors are locked before leaving your property, after an officer on patrol saw numerous unsecured windows in an area of Upper Bangor. Police warned: “Remember it only takes a second to double check that your property is locked and secure. Not doing this makes you a simple target for the opportunistic criminal.
“Make sure you secure windows, especially on ground floor level. Use locks and bolts, and keep all of your keys and expensive items out of sight and out of reach.
“Leaving your property during the hours of darkness, without putting lights on or drawing the curtains/ blinds, can also give the opportunistic criminal a clear message that you are not home.”
