Bangor City 1876’s memorable Welsh Cup run continued in front of a bumper crowd of 1,300 at the Bangor City Stadium as late goals from Jack Smith and Sam Jones sealed a 2–0 victory over 10-man Trefelin, booking the Citizens’ place in the quarter-finals of the 2025–26 JD Welsh Cup.
After a tense and hard-fought contest, Bangor finally made their pressure count in the closing stages, with Smith breaking the deadlock before Jones added a second to spark jubilant scenes among the home support. The result underlined both the resilience and belief growing within the squad as the competition enters its decisive phase.
Attention now turns to the quarter-final draw, which will be made live on Heno, S4C, on Monday 15 December from 7pm. With no seeding in the competition, Bangor could face any of the remaining seven sides still in contention.
Potential opponents include north Wales rivals Colwyn Bay, Flint Town United, Rhyl 1879, Trearddur Bay, and Caernarfon Town, alongside southern representatives Barry Town United and Caerau Ely. Quarter-final ties are scheduled to be played between 30 January and 1 February 2026, with a place in the last four at stake.
