Over 650 runners will descend on Bangor this weekend, Saturday 6th October, for the annual Bangor 10k and Half Marathon. Now in its 7th year, the race is sold out for 2018, but there will be a pay-on-the day fun run for youngsters along Bangor High Street.
The main races start and finish in the city centre and go out to the coastline, into the grounds of Penrhyn Castle Estate then back to and along Garth Pier over the Menai Strait, taking in views of Anglesey, Snowdonia and the surrounding North Wales coastline, before returning back to the finish in the city centre.
The Fun Run, starts at 9am with entry on the day, is from Bangor clock to the Skerries and back, approx 1/2 mile, starting at 9:00am. Cost £3 with a Medal for all finishers. The Fun Run is open to all ages but children age 9 and under should be accompanied by an adult.
Both of the main races start at 9:30am by the clock, with runners from all over the UK competing. Last year’s 10K winner was Russell Bentley from Eryri Harriers in a time of 32:37, with Robert Fox from York winning the Half Marathon in 1 hour 25 minutes.
