Budding young creatives are being given the opportunity to pitch their creative event ideas before a panel of experts to claim £2,020.
#2020 is a Dragons Den-style initiative run by theatre company Frân Wen who have set up the scheme for 16 to 25 year olds.
In addition to administering the fund, Frân Wen will provide support and guidance to the winning bid.
The scheme will support a young person or group who have an original idea for a creative event and are looking for support to help turn their ideas into reality.
“We’re looking for innovative and original ideas, but it’s completely up to the young people what they put forward. It could be an online event, a music and theatre hybrid gig or a digital exhibition,” said Mari Morgan from Frân Wen.
“It’s about us empowering young people to flourish and also boosting their enterprise and creative skills.”
The deadline for entries is Friday 1 November 2019.
A shortlist will be selected from the applications and they will be asked to pitch in front of a panel of specialists at M-SParc, the new science park on Anglesey, on Saturday 11 January 2020.
The project is supported by Arts Council Wales and Big Ideas Wales, the enterprise agency dedicated to helping young people develop their business and entrepreneurial skills.
The successful pitch will receive £2020 and professional support will be provided by artists and industry experts to help develop and manage their event.
“Frân Wen’s participatory work has already supported thousand of young people to participate in the arts and #2020 will help us build on this success,” added Mari, who is Frân Wen’s Creative Mentor.
“We are fiercely dedicated to ensuring that young people’s voices are heard in influencing the future of the arts in Wales. They have told us that arts and culture play an important role in their lives and #2020 is delighted to support their passion.”
