A residential address in Bangor that has been associated with antisocial behaviour has been closed for three months from 29th March 2018. The Closure Order at 2 Craig Menai Bangor, was granted at Caernarfon Magistrates Court today following an application by North Wales Police.
Evidence was presented to the court that the property was associated with anti-social behaviour and criminality over a prolonged period of time. The Closure Order permits only named individuals to enter the property until 11:59pm on 28th June 2018.
Sergeant Daf Curry at Bangor Police Station said “We are grateful to the community for sharing information with us and are pleased that the Court shared our view that the way this premises was being used was causing misery to other residents.
“We hope the people of Bangor are reassured that we listen to them and will, working with our partners use all legislation available to us to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour. I can promise both the decent majority of people living in the area and those that might want to disregard the court order that it will be enforced robustly.”
DCI Brian Kearney at Caernarfon CID said: “The single biggest threat to our community are drug dealers from outside north Wales coming here and exploiting our vulnerable drug addicts whilst taking over their homes.
“We therefore are working closely with our partner agencies to keep people safe. To combat these threats, we will use any lawful appropriate measure necessary including Closure Orders to protect our community. Our message remains clear – if you cause serious harm in our community whether you are a drug dealer, sex offender or violent thug we will relentlessly pursue you.”
