Bangor’s community spirit is set to take centre stage this weekend with a special charity event, the Friday Night Skank, organised by Bangor Ska’N’Soul in partnership with Nigel Pickavance and the Regeneration of the High Street group, Abbey Road mental health awareness charity, Bangor Cathedral Foodbank and Bwyd Da Bangor.

The event aims to raise vital donations for the Bangor Cathedral Foodbank through an evening of music, food, and community togetherness.

The event will take place on Friday, 17th October, from 6 pm to 10 pm at Bwyd Da Bangor. Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring a bag of non-perishable food items to be donated directly to the foodbank.

Michael Williams from the Bangor Ska n’ Soul Group said, “Bangor Cathedral Foodbank relies on the generosity of local people, and events like this make a real difference. We’re incredibly grateful for the community’s continued support.

“Rather than selling tickets, we’re inviting everyone to contribute to a cause that supports families in need within our community. It’s about bringing people together through music and compassion.”

The Bangor Ska n’ Soul Group has become a well-known local force for good, regularly organising events that promote togetherness and positive energy through music. By blending ska, reggae, and mod influences, the group has helped reinvigorate Bangor’s live music scene and fostered a renewed sense of community spirit.
