McDonald’s in Bangor are working with Gwynedd Council and North Wales Police to resolve traffic problems on Caernarfon Road caused by the Drive-Thru takeaway.

Traffic is frequently congested on Caernarfon Road in both directions as cars attempt to enter the one-way the drive-thru traffic system at the fast-food restaurant.

McDonald’s reopened their Bangor branch in June 2020 after the first national lockdown. A traffic control system is in place and lanes are coned-off to avoid potential problems, but that doesn’t stop traffic queues forming along Caernarfon Road at peak times.

A McDonald’s Customer Service agent said: “At McDonald’s we want all of our customers to enjoy their restaurant experience each and every time they visit.

“I understand the concerns with regards to traffic congestion due to the queue at the Drive-Thru at the Bangor – Caernarfon Road restaurant.

“We are working with Local Authorities and police and we may determine it necessary to close Drive Thrus if there is local disruption or puts the safety of our employees and customers at risk.”

A spokesperson from Gwynedd Council said: “We are aware of the traffic problems related to the drive-thru at McDonald’s on Caernarfon Road in Bangor and are working with them to resolve the issue.
