A Winter Foodbank Appeal launched by local politicians has raised £600 to local foodbanks.
The money raised has been presented to the Cathedral Foodbank in Bangor and Arfon Foodbank in Caernarfon.
Plaid Cymru Arfon Member of the Senedd Siân Gwenllian and Member of Parliament Hywel Williams launched a Winter Foodbank Appeal in December to help support the two main foodbanks in their constituency.
Siân Gwenllian MS said: “Normally we would have held food collections at our constituency office on the High St. in Bangor and in Caernarfon, but our offices are still closed because of Covid restrictions.
“Therefore, we moved the collection online. I knew that the constituents of Arfon would step up to the mark and do their bit.
“It’s simply wrong that people should have to depend on Foodbanks, but the work that both Foodbanks do is invaluable.
“I would like to thank them.”
Hywel Williams MP, who represent Bangor in Westminster said; “I thank the people of Arfon for their generosity in such difficult times. I am proud of the feeling of a duty of care that we have towards each other.”
