An application to demolish existing buildings and build a 4 storey 36 unit accommodation in Bangor has been submitted to planners.

The site, off Convent Lane in Bangor, would house 30 two-bed and six one-bed flats on the site of the former Period Interiors bathroom, bedroom and kitchen showroom.
The proposal would see a complete re-development of the existing site which has remained vacant for two years.
The apartments would be accommodated in two main connected blocks, with an ‘L’ shaped footprint facing the A5 Holyhead Road and Convent Lane.
The building would effectively ‘wrap around’ the A5 and Convent Lane frontages, with four floors, according to the plans. The building would be finished in a palette of contemporary materials including brick, render, cladding, glazed balconies and powder-coated aluminium windows which would give the building a clean and modern appearance. The precise specifications would be subject to the detailed agreement of the Local Planning Authority.
The proposed housing mix is in agreement with the Local Planning Authority’s pre- application advice, which is to provide the affordable housing meeting the Local Development Plan planning policy, with 20% of the units within the development being affordable, i.e. 20% of the 1 bed units and 20% of the 2 bed units, being affordable housing.
There would be space for 40 vehicles and plans would include widening the section of Convent Lane closest to the junction with Station Road and introducing a footpath on the northern side of the lane.
