This summer, the prestigious Zip World are partnering with the North Wales NHS Charity, Awyr Las, to provide staff in North Wales with a wellbeing evening out of this world.
Staff and volunteers at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board will soon be invited to take part in a mammoth zip wire adventure in Bethesda to help raise funds for priority projects, additional equipment and services to help transform and improve patient care and treatment across the region.
Zip World Founder, Sean Taylor, said: “We’re delighted to partner with the Health Board and the North Wales NHS Charity for this significant milestone.
“During the pandemic we all recognised the incredible work that our NHS does, but the reality is that NHS staff and volunteers have worked hard providing fantastic care and treatment for 75 years day in, day out.
“They deserve a fun evening together, celebrating the work they have done whilst raising money for projects across the region, a day we are proud to provide at Zip World.”
Staff and volunteers will be invited to Zip World on Wednesday 5th July 2023, the NHS’ 75th Anniversary, to take part in the truly unique experience of Velocity 2, the fastest zip wire in Europe travelling up to 100mph over the Penrhyn Quarry.
Talking about the celebrations, Carol Shillabeer, Interim CEO of the Health Board, said: “This partnership with Zip World is a huge part of our celebrations of the NHS this year.
“It will give staff and volunteers from across the Health Board in North Wales an opportunity to have fun with teammates and also raise money for our North Wales NHS charity, Awyr Las.
“Importantly, this event gives us a chance to recognise colleagues and so something memorable together. I will be there on the day taking part!”
Awyr Las: The North Wales NHS Charity will recognise the 75th Anniversary of the NHS by funding a number of priority projects across the region, including those within children’s services, cancer care and older people’s services this year. The NHS staff and volunteers taking part can choose to raise money for one of these priority projects, or for a ward or department of their choice.
