Pupils from Ysgol Y Garnedd in Bangor enjoyed an amazing experience today representing North Wales at the Premier League Primary Stars Final, which took place at the King Power Stadium, home of Premier League club Leicester City.

Garnedd won the North West Regional Tournament, which was played at Bangor City’s Nantporth Stadium in March, to qualify for today‘s Final. The competition featured some of the top footballing primary schools in Great Britain, including schools from Kent, South Wales, West Cumbria, North Devon and Lincolnshire, who all took part in this special event.

Ysgol Y Garnedd won 3 games, drew 1 and lost 1 in the tournament, which was an amazing performance against some of the UK’s top teams, the school even featured in the match day programme.

The multi-talented squad representing Ysgol Y Garnedd also skilfully represent their school in several other sports such as rugby, swimming and athletics.

When not playing football most of the team are keen rugby players, with Ion, Wil and Huw playing for their regional team. Steffan is a football academy player while the rest of the team represent their local clubs.

Along with reaching the National Urdd football competition last season, a place in the National finals of the Premier League Primary Stars Football Tournament has been hailed as the pinnacle of their sporting experiences.

The incredible experience of playing at the King Power Stadium and proudly representing North Wales will never be forgotten by the young players.
