The annual Year 5 & 6 Open Evening at Ysgol Friars in Bangor has moved online this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The open evening, which allows pupils and parents visit the school before choosing their secondary school, is always a hugely popular event, with over 600 people attending last year’s event.

A spokesperson from Ysgol Friars said: “This year we are incredibly disappointed to be unable to offer the same experience to current Year 5 & 6 pupils, so have been working hard to produce a virtual tour of our school which showcases our site and demonstrates the quality of teaching and learning we can provide. The virtual tour and sign-up details are available here http://moodletest.friars.gwynedd.sch.uk/

“As a school, we are rated ‘good’ by Estyn and have seen our school population grow each year, to now educating nearly 1400 young people.

“Despite the huge upheaval to learning throughout this year, we remain broadly recognised as one of the top performing schools in North Wales, the a thriving 6th form which is the biggest in North West Wales, and have consistently been placed in the top rankings for the Welsh Governments categorisation system in the last few years.”

The virtual tour is available now online in both English & Welsh: http://moodletest.friars.gwynedd.sch.uk/

A Question and Answer session will be held on the 10th of November between 6pm and 8pm for year 5 and 6 parents.
