Theatr Bryn Terfel

Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru presents Rhinoseros by Eugene Ionesco

Wednesday 1 November & Thursday 2 November (with BSL)

Welsh adaptation by Manon Steffan Ros

A rhinoceros thunders through the streets of a quiet village. Everyone is baffled. Where did this terrifying animal come from?

But, one by one, the village residents succumb to the new order and transform into beasts. As the world and the people around him change, the unlikely hero Bérenger clutches on to his identity and refuses to give in – but what is the cost of not conforming?

Filled with unexpected humour and nightmarish tension, Rhinoseros is a commentary on society, extremism and how hatred can spread like a virus. As relevant now as ever, this absurdist masterpiece by Eugene Ionesco comes to Welsh stages in its first Welsh language adaptation by Manon Steffan Ros under the direction of Steffan Donnelly.

Watch out – the rhinoceroses are coming!

FILMING – Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru will be filming the performance on 1 November, no audience members will be filmed

Theatr Iolo present Owl at Home

Saturday 4 November 11.30am & 2.30pm

Based on the illustrated children’s book by Arnold Lobel

Adapted for the stage by Rina Vergano + Theatr Iolo

Owl lives alone in a cosy little home in a hollow tree in the woods. With no one to talk to, Owl sings to himself and looks for ways to pass the time. He wonders about things a lot. What will happen if he invites winter into his home? And can he be in two places at once?

As his imagination runs away with him, ordinary objects begin to take on a life of their own and Owl finds an unexpected friend who’s willing to follow him to the ends of the earth… whether he likes it or not!

An enchanting tale with music, Owl at Home shows us how friendship can be found in the most unlikely of places.
