Theatre Bryn Terfel

Glanaethwy ar Drothwy’r Ŵyl

Sunday 15th December 7.30pm

This year Ysgol Glanaethwy celebrates its thirty-fifth anniversary and since its establishment has reached pinnacles that were unimaginable back in 1990 when the school was opened. Amongst some of its greatest successes a number of milestones come to mind: winning the main prizes of the Barclays Music Theatre Awards at the South Bank in London, the Festival Choir at the National Eisteddfod, BBC 4 Choir of the Year, reaching the final of Last Choir Standing and Britain’s Got Talent, winning two gold medals in the World Choir Games in China, and performing the Cantata Memoria by Karl Jenkins at the Carnegie Hall in New York. But having travelled the world to Italy and Ukraine, Patagonia and Bulgaria, Switzerland, Ireland, Scotland, Budapest, England and the Czech Republic, undoubtedly one of the choir’s greatest highlights was winning the “World Choir” title at this year’s Llangollen International Eisteddfod.

The culmination of the celebrations of that victory will be our concert tonight and an opportunity for those who could not be there to see the award-winning performance in Llangollen last July. Not forgetting that we are also celebrating the Nativity of course. Two celebrations in one therefore in the company of the 2024 World Choir!
