Ysgol Glanethwy presents Morynion y Gwaed
Sunday 14 April, 7.30pm
The first branch of the Mabinogi, Pwyll Pendefig Dyfed, may not be as familiar to us as the stories of Branwen and Blodeuwedd, Gwydion and Math Fab Mathonwy. Like the branches of a tree, it’s an intricate and complicated tale, with twist and turns throughout. However, this challenge of bringing the story apart was exciting. Looking at the morynion (maids) in the story, and how to expand their story as they have such an important part in the story of Pwyll and Rhiannon. As they create a web of lies to hide their guilt, what will their fate be when their deception and deceit is eventually caught? This is the story that we will follow as we shine a new light on the first branch of Y Mabinogi.
A new musical full of colour, entertainment and fascination, by Ysgol Glanaethwy. Having entertained audiences since 1990, this is one of their most ambitious shows to date, musically and visually. We look forward to seeing you.
Jack Philp Dance – Into the Novacene
Wednesday 17 April 7.30pm
Visually striking, fast paced and future facing. Into the Novacene is a contemporary dance work about the beginnings of a new age and of a new world. Created with an exceptional cast of 6 performers and inspired by research and literature written by engineer and scientist James Lovelock, the work takes us on a journey to a future. Set against a backdrop of co-existence between nature, humanity and digital technology living together as one system, the choreography captures the organic and the visceral, it plays upon a sense of curiosity, of meeting, of community and togetherness, as well as celebrates the fierce precision and poise of something futuristic. Here, we walk towards the future with the belief that is has to be great, and that it has to be epic.
