There’s another great week of films, entertainment and events for the community at Pontio in Bangor.

Bangor Aye’s Film of The Week: Priscilla (15)

Reviews: A meticulously crafted character study that tells it’s story through it’s character, Priscilla is a beautifully written and tremendously well-acted film that will stay in your mind days after viewing.

A star is born with Cailee Spaeny’s portrayal of Priscilla Beaulieu, the 14-year-old schoolgirl who grew up to marry Elvis Presley, in Sofia Coppola’s ravishing and gothic tale of how teen dreams can very often turn toxic.

Priscilla (15)

We believe North Wales is ahead of the curve in terms of offering social prescribing as an effective alternative to medicine. We invite everyone affected by struggles with poor mental health – including family members and those involved in the referral process, from GPs to local councillors, to come and experience for themselves how Cysylltu’s rainbow could enhance the social prescribing programme.

“The time has come to recognise the powerful contribution the arts can make to our health and wellbeing”  (All Party Parliamentary Report on Creative Health 2017) The isolation felt by many during the lockdowns, has long been the lived experience of many who struggle with poor mental health.

No experience necessary

Dance for Parkinson’s classes are fun and informal.

Dance has been proven to develop confidence and strength, whilst temporarily relieving some participants of symptoms in everyday life. Classes are creative and promote feelings of freedom from the physical and social constraints of having Parkinson’s.

We are an Affiliated hub of English National Ballet’s Dance for Parkinson’s programme.

Classes are 90 minutes long, and all you’ll need is a chair.

English National Ballet’s Dance for Parkinson’s programme has been running since 2008. We are proud to be part of the Dance for PD membership, to support Dance for Parkinson’s Partnership and People Dancing and to have an affiliation with Parkinson’s UK. ENB’s national Dance for Parkinson’s programme enjoys close links with Parkinson’s UK and the European Parkinson’s Disease Association EPDA.
