Viridian Vegan Café on Bangor High Street has announced that it won’t reopen after lockdown.

Indoor hospitality is expected to reopen on 17 May in Wales, sadly the owners of the café have announced they won’t be opening their doors again, due to the ‘circumstances of the last year’.

Opening in November 2019, Viridian at 307-309 on the High St, Bangor, formerly ‘Follow Your Bliss’ and ‘Two Guys from Brussels’ offered dishes such as soup, sandwiches, wraps, mac and cheese (vegan) and desserts. The 100% vegan café was proving to be popular and there were plans to elongate their hours for an evening/cocktail bar.

Repeated lockdowns, early closing rules and rules preventing alcohol sales, have put a massive strain on small businesses.

A statement on Facebook said: “Hello guys I am sorry we have been quiet for so long. But I write this now with the saddest news and a heavy heart that regretfully we will not be opening our doors again.

“We would like to thank all of our customers we have had over that last year and a half for everything, you have all made the experience for us here at Viridian a memorable one. It has been full of ups and downs and it has been a rollercoaster of a ride but unfortunately due to the circumstances of the last year and a half we never got our chance to properly get up and running and flourish as we should have.

“I leave here with no regrets and many good and happy experiences along with the invaluable life experience of running my own cafe, even if it was brief. Life is always a learning curve and everything in it a lesson to carry onto the next chapter of your life.

“I hope this won’t be the end of Viridian and i hope in the coming years i am able serve you all again, whether it’s in a pop up, food markets or if manage to open somewhere else again in the future

“Again thank you all for the love and support you have shown us here it will never be forgotten. I hope everyone has been well through this i wish everybody the best. But for now we will say see you later rather than goodbye, take care.”
