Topshop in Bangor will close its doors permanently next month.

The High Street fashion retailer forms part of Sir Philip Green’s retail group Arcadia, which also includes Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Outfit and Wallis.

The retail group was reported to be in discussion with landlords over leases and could serve notice to walk away from more than 100 stores by the end of the summer.

Arcadia had been hit by financial troubles before the Covid-19 crisis. Its high street brands reported pre-tax losses of £505.1 million for the year to September 2018, according to accounts published on Companies House.

A series of Company Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs) were proposed in May last year as part of a wider three-year recovery plan, which led to the closures of 23 stores and rent reductions on many others.

TopShop have been approached for a comment on the Bangor closure.
