A talented young Bangor cricketer has been presented with a prestigious award after demonstrating excellent bowling and batting skills for his local club.

Hari Williams, 13, who plays for Bangor Cricket Club second and third eleven teams and the U13’s team. He also plays representative cricket for Cricket Wales North U13’s.

Hari has an utterly amazing cricket season in 2023. There have been numerous highlights; including nearly achieving his maiden half century with 49 not out against Menai Bridge and hitting his first six whilst playing at representative level, against Cricket Wales South at Cowbridge Cricket Club.

Last Friday evening, 20 October Hari was presented The Arwyn Hughes Trophy for Best Bowling Performance from former England and Glamorgan cricketer Robert Croft at the North Wales Cricket League Presentation Night. He received this trophy in recognition of his 7 wickets for 12 runs against St. Asaph cricket club. Which turned out to be the best individual performance by an adult across the whole of North Wales. This makes Hari the youngest ever recipient of the award in the Noth Wales Cricket League history.

Hari has also won the following awards this season, here is what Bangor Cricket Club had to say: “Hari had two amazing moments this season for the 3rd XI

“He almost scored his maiden fifty for the club, when he scored 49 not out against Menai Bridge. Unfortunately, he was denied his half century, as his batting partner at the other end was run out from the last ball of the innings.

“Hari has been an outstanding role model to all the other junior cricketers, and he leads by example both on and off the field. He puts in an unbelievable amount of effort helping the coaches and ground staff prepare for training and matches. Most importantly, he always plays with a smile and encourages everyone else to do the same.”

Not only has Hari received an award for his bowling prowess, but he has also been crowned as Bangor Cricket Club U13’s Batter of the Year.

Bangor Cricket Club added: “Massive congratulations to Hari. A player who is feared by every other team in the junior league for his awesome skills with the bat. Well done Hari, everyone at Bangor Cricket Club are very proud of you.”
