St Deiniol Golf Club in Bangor have announced they will reopen for play from Monday, 18 May.
Following recent Welsh Government announcements and the revision of certain Covid-19 related restrictions, golf clubs are permitted to open if they so wish form next Monday. It is entirely at each golf club’s discretion as to whether they choose to open and if so when they choose to do so.
Wales Golf have advised that clubs that re-open ensure they have sufficient protocols in place allowing for a managed and co-ordinated reintroduction of golf across Wales.
Guidelines and protocols have been introduced as St Deiniol Golf Club to ensure the safety and care of club members and staff.
COURSE SET UP AND ITEMS
- All bins, benches and ball washers are out of use
- Bunker rakes removed
- Stakes defining hazards and boundaries of the course will be treated as immovable obstructions
- Flag sticks will remain but are NOT to be removed at any time or under any circumstance
- Hole cups will be set so that the ball falls just bellow the putting surface
BEFORE THE ROUND
- All practice facilities are OUT OF BOUNDS (not to be used at any time)
- There will be a online booking system for members to book a tee time (do not turn up without booking in advance
- You can only play as a one ball or with a member of the same household
- The clubhouse, locker room and toilet facilities will be closed at all times
- Golfers are asked to turn up as close to their allotted time slot to prevent golfers congregating around the first tee and to remain in their vehicles till they are on the tee
- Buggies are in use and to be booked when booking a tee time, one personnel per buggy at all times
ON COMPLETION OF THE ROUND
- We ask members to leave the club as soon as possible to prevent gatherings in the lower car park (top car park will be closed)
- The shoe cleaner will not be in operation
A statement from the club said: “These are guidelines that have been put in place by the welsh government and will be updated regularly in line with government regulations, members are asked to comply with them at all times.
“Any individual seen not sticking to these will be reported to club management and dealt with by the club. It’s important to ensure the safety of fellow golfers and ground staff who will be working and operating on the golf course.
“We appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing you back playing golf in a safe environment.”
