CPD Bangor City 1876 have completed the signing of Welsh goalkeeper Scott van-der-Sluis, bringing the 24-year-old back to North Wales as he looks to take the next step in his senior career.

The former Manchester United, Liverpool, and Swansea City academy prospect re-joins The Citizens after spells across the English non-league system, including Merthyr Town, Northwich Victoria, Runcorn Linnets, and City of Liverpool. Widely regarded as a technically gifted and vocal shot-stopper, Van-der-Sluis arrives with the expectation of becoming a key figure at the club.

The move marks a homecoming for Van-der-Sluis, who grew up in Connah’s Quay and represented Wales at U15, U16, and U17 levels. His experience on the international stage, including winning the 2015 Victory Shield, adds further pedigree to Bangor’s squad. He is also the younger brother of current Bangor player Jamie Reed, further strengthening the family connection at the club.

Van-der-Sluis became a household name in 2023 when he appeared on Love Island (UK) as a bombshell on Day 11, later returning to screens on Love Island USA and the spin-off Love Island Games. Across the three versions, he became one of the most frequently appearing contestants in the show’s history.

Supporters have reacted enthusiastically to the news, with many viewing his arrival as a statement of intent as the club looks to strengthen its push up the Cymru Leagues.

The signing represents both ambition and a commitment to nurturing Welsh talent. For Van-der-Sluis, it’s a chance to anchor himself at a club determined to rise again and fans are already eager to see whether his next headlines will come from the pitch rather than the villa.
