Residents at Cerrig yr Afon care home on the outskirts of Y Felinheli, near Bangor, were treated to a memorable day as a host of animals paid a special visit.
The home welcomed Animal Encounters, bringing with them a variety of creatures including snakes, an owl, lambs, lizards and rabbits, giving residents the chance to get up close and interact with the animals.
The visit proved a big hit, with smiles all round as residents stroked the animals, asked questions and shared stories. For many, it was a chance to reconnect with nature and relive fond memories of animals they had known earlier in life.
Staff at the home said the experience offered not only entertainment but also valuable sensory engagement, sparking conversation and encouraging interaction among residents.
Andreea Roberts, home manager at Cerrig yr Afon, said: “It was a truly wonderful day for everyone here. Seeing the residents’ faces light up as they met the animals was incredibly special.
“Activities like this are so important in bringing joy, stimulating memories and creating meaningful moments. The team from Animal Encounters were fantastic, making sure everyone felt comfortable and involved. We can’t wait to welcome them back in June.”
The event forms part of the home’s ongoing programme of activities designed to enhance wellbeing and provide enriching experiences for residents.
