The Red Arrows are due to fly over North Wales and Anglesey today, Thursday, 11 August, as RAF Valley will be hosting its own Families Day
Families Day is a way of saying thank you to the RAF’s own personnel both military and civilian and their families, who have worked so hard, especially during Covid – and a thank you to those who have been away in support of operations.
Families Day is not a public event or air show, and only ticket holders are allowed on base for this event. But you can still catch a glimpse of the Red Arrows over North Wales and on Anglesey.
A statement from RAF Valley said: “Non ticket holders are urged to avoid roads close to Valley on the day. RAF Valley are working closely with North Wales Police and with dedicated Stewards – who will help us direct any traffic and assist in checking tickets to ensure nearby roads are not disrupted for residents and local businesses. The dedicated Spotters’ Car Park will also be closed all day on Thursday 11th August.
“As always there will be strict guidelines in place to ensure the safety of everyone on and off the base. RAF and North Wales Police will be monitoring all areas to make sure no-one will be walking/standing/driving or parking vehicles within these areas that need to be kept clear for safety reasons and this includes the sand dunes and scrub land adjacent to the airfield perimeter.
“There will some additional aircraft noise as the display aircraft arrive tomorrow and then depart on the Friday morning and of course there will be more persistent aircraft noise on the Families’ Day itself. We are working hard to ensure that our event does not cause our close neighbours too much disruption or inconvenience and we hope that this post and others we have made using local media, will give adequate warning for local livestock owners; such as farms and riding schools close to Valley, a chance to make adequate provision.”
