Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd, the hospital radio station at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, is celebrating a very special milestone of 45 years of broadcasting.
The radio station, operated solely by volunteers, has arranged a special 45 event to celebrate at Morrisons, Bangor where Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd began broadcasting in the old C&A hospital, 45 years ago.
Kevin Williams, Chairman of Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd, is delighted with the station’s development, he said: “Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd is going from strength to strength and all of our volunteers have worked so hard to continue our valued service for our patients and community over the last 45 years.
“Our special 45 event is an opportunity to celebrate, share memories and greetings and remember volunteers who are sadly no longer with us.
“We’d like to thank Morrisons for all their fantastic support. We’re all looking forward to celebrating with our patients and community on the 20th November between 11am-3pm”.
Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd’s 45 event will be held in Morrisons Bangor’s car park on the 20th November 11am-3pm and will include live performances from Dylan Morris and Arfon Wyn, Dylan a Neil, Bedwyr Morgan plus interviews and messages from a range of special guests including Elin Fflur, Dafydd Iwan and many more.
Everyone is welcome to share their stories over the last 45 years and join in the celebrations.
Patients and our community can also listen to the 45 outside broadcast live on channel 1 in Ysbyty Gwynedd, on Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd’s website: www.radioysbytygwynedd.com and on Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd’s new App.
The station picked up a nomination in the Digital or RSL Station Of The Year 2021 category for their work in serving the patients of Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor and the wider community were shortlisted in the top five from around the UK!
