Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd, a registered charity, is delighted to announce that it has been successfully awarded funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The hospital radio station based in Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor has been awarded a grant of £19,708 for a new studio – a significant boost that will help the station continue delivering uplifting, patient-focused broadcasting to patients, hospital staff and our wider community.

Derfel Thomas, Chair of Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd expressed his gratitude, saying: “We are so grateful to the National Lottery for their essential support. Our mission is to brighten patients’ days, offer comfort through music and strengthen the connection between the hospital and the wider community. This funding will enable us to enhance and expand our services, by investing in a new studio that will ensure the station’s continued success for many years to come. As we look forward to celebrating our 50th birthday in April 2026, we are excited to begin work on our new studio in early 2026, marking the next chapter in our history.”

The National Lottery Community Fund distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes. Their support helps organisations like Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd make a positive difference to people’s lives across Wales.
