​Renowned poet and cultural icon Dr. John Cooper Clarke is set to bring his distinctive blend of punk-infused poetry to Pontio in Bangor as part of his 2025 UK tour celebrating World Poetry Day.

Known as the ‘Godfather of Punk Poetry,’ Clarke’s influence spans literature, music, and fashion. His sharp wit and social commentary have inspired generations, with his work featured in the UK national curriculum and influencing artists like the Arctic Monkeys.​

The 2025 tour includes performances at major venues such as the London Palladium and Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall, culminating in a historic show at Manchester’s Co-Op Live arena, where Clarke will become the first poet to headline a UK arena. ​

Clarke’s live shows are celebrated for their mix of classic verse, new material, and humorous reflections on modern life. Audiences can expect a captivating evening showcasing one of the world’s most entertaining spoken word artists.​

John Cooper Clarke  will perform at Theatr Bryn Terfel on Thursday 16 October at 8pm and tickets for the event go on sale at 10am on Friday, 11 April.
