North Wales Police have renewed their appeal following a ‘fail to stop’ collision in Bangor on Monday night.

Officers were called to Glynne Road at 19:44 to a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian, however the vehicle had left the location. A 21-year-old female, remains in hospital with serious injuries police have now appealed directly to the motorist involved to come forward so they can progress with their investigation into the incident.

As part of the investigation officers have been reviewing CCTV images and are keen to trace a man who was seen to be walking down the High Street and turned left onto Glynne Road a few moments before the collision happened.

Sergeant Meurig Jones of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The man who was seen on CCTV walking down the High Street turned onto Glynne Road approximately 12 seconds before the collision happened, meaning there is likelihood that he would have heard the commotion behind him. The vehicle involved, which we believe to be a dark coloured saloon or hatchback car – possibly a Ford Mondeo, would have passed him after failing to stop at the scene.

“We are keen to trace this man, or anybody else who may have witnessed the collision. We are reviewing a number of CCTV images and our enquiries continue.

“The victim remains in hospital with serious injuries so I would also like to appeal directly to the motorist involved in the collision and ask them to come forward so we can progress with our investigation.”

Anybody who can assist with the investigation is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or via the live web chat quoting reference number W175751.
