On 1st February, Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales (PCC) Andy Dunbobbin visited the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC) in Bangor.
During the visit the PCC learnt more about how funding from his office received by the organisation has supported its work to help victims of sexual abuse, especially with the recruitment of a children and young people’s counsellor. The PCC also presented the team at RASASC with a certificate for their excellent work in the community on behalf of the people of North Wales.
PCC Andy Dunbobbin said: “It was a pleasure to visit RASASC in Bangor. Supporting the community is a key part of my Police and Crime Plan for North Wales. During the visit, I got the chance to meet the dedicated staff working at RASASC and to thank them for their work to ensure victims of sexual abuse receive the help and support that they need.”
Fflur Emlyn from RASASC said: “It was great to welcome Andy Dunbobbin to our centre and show him firsthand how funding from the OPCC has benefitted survivors of child sexual abuse and sexual violence in North Wales.
“He met the RASASC counsellors and team, all trauma informed sexual violence specialists that provide therapeutic counselling to survivors and their family, improving their mental, psychological, and physical health resulting in healthier individuals, benefitting the survivors their families and society”.
