Plans have been submitted to Gwynedd Council to provide new WiFi access points located in the public areas at Bangor Railway Station. This is part of a roll out programme of public use WiFi access across Wales by Arriva Trains Wales and is funded by the Welsh Government.
The WiFi access is designed to make the building more suited to twenty-first-century use by providing better facilities for rail users on the go.
The system has been designed to provide extensive coverage throughout Bangor railway station to allow passengers to stay connected for business or personal use while at the station.
The WiFi installation has been proposed to improve and modernise the services at railway stations across Wales, benefiting the public using and passing through the railway station on their daily commute.
Four WiFi access point will be positioned under the station canopy at Bangor, covering all platforms and one in the concourse area. The proposed WiFi access point locations have been selected to be near the main congregation/waiting areas of the station and limiting the amount of work required as part of the installation.
